Estudiantes beat Newell’s away from home

STUDENTS

Students from La Plata won away by 1-4 Newell’s Old Boys in the match that kicked off the ninth round of the Argentine Professional League Tournament. Two goals from Guido Carrillo and two from Pablo Pilatti allowed Pincharrata to overcome an initial disadvantage after Tomás Pérez’s goal.

After this result, Estudiantes climbed to fourth place with 15 points behind Talleres, three behind the leader Huracán. For Newell’s this defeat means a hard fall in the run-up to the Rosario derby, which will be played next Saturday. Just this afternoon Rosario Central announced the departure of coach Miguel Ángel Russo for health reasons.
