The two tourist ports of the city of Puerto Plata will receive 81 cruise ships in the month of January 2025, 27 through Amber Cove and 54 through Taíno Bay, reported Carlos Atahualpa Paulino, Northern Regional Director of the Ministry of Tourism.
Paulino highlighted the importance of this start of the year for the local economy. The positive impact that this generates for the development of Puerto Plata is invaluable, consolidating it as a key pillar in the growth of tourism and the country’s economy, he stated.
Since its inauguration in 2015, the Amber Cove port marked a before and after for cruise tourism in the northern part of the country. This momentum was strengthened with the opening of Taíno Bay in 2021, which reaffirmed Puerto Plata as the main cruise destination in the country and the Caribbean. With these figures and the continued growth of the sector, Puerto Plata continues to position itself as a leading tourist destination, offering unique experiences for those who come to its shores.
