The substitute judge of the Specialized Court for Violence in Estelí, María Eugenia González, sentenced to 35 years and six months in prison for Yericson Joshua Herrera Torres20 years old, for the crime of sexual abuse of two minors, eight years old and nine years old, both from the Rosario Murillo neighborhood, in the western city.
In the account of the events, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the abuse was committed on Sunday, April 24, when the two minors accompanied their parents to an evangelical church in the Rosario Murillo neighborhood. Herrera Torres, “taking advantage of his adulthood, led the victims to his home under the false promise of gambling.”

“He took them to a room and tied both children, undressed them, made lascivious movements and threatened to kill the mothers of the children if they reported what had happened,” argued the Public Ministry.
The court ruled that minors must receive psychotherapeutic treatment when signs and symptoms of moderate acute stress are found that are associated with sexual victimization.
He will only serve 30 years in prison
The subject —according to local media— was sentenced to 22 and nine months for rape and psychological injuries to the eight-year-old minor. He also added another 12 years and nine months for minor injuries to the nine-year-old minor.
Despite the fact that according to the Public Ministry, the evidence is irrefutable, the abuser will only serve 30 years in prison, which means that he will be behind bars until 2052.
The abuses and murders against minors have been growing. One of the most recent events was the crime against two girls aged seven and 10 in Ciudad Belén, Managua.
The defendants are Alfredo Antonio Lara Ortiz, 19 years old, Alison Yahoska Salgado Rugama, 18 years old, and a 16-year-old adolescent, Alison’s brother. The defendants lived five houses from where the victims lived in Ciudad Belén. The crime against the two minors occurred on the night of Friday, September 2.

The lifeless bodies of the girls were found in a vacant lot in Ciudad Belén on Monday, September 5. A multicolored cloth mattress, strips of white cloth, a piece of white duplex wire, and body fluid samples were collected as evidence at the site.
Although the Nicaraguan government has assured that it is working to prevent these crimes, the cases of children who are victims of abuse are increasing.
