Asuncion, IP Agency.- San Bernardino adds its third water treatment plant that will guarantee drinking water service for some 12,000 people in the aforementioned city in the department of Cordillera. The work was authorized this Tuesday by the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez.
On the occasion, the head of Essap, Natalicio Chase, explained that the compact water treatment plant has a production capacity of 100 more m3 of drinking water per hour, which will be added to the two already installed on the shores of Lake Ypacaraí and to the production daily at the Essap treatment plant.
The total investment for this work is G. 6,216 million and will benefit 2,400 users, that is, some 12,000 people.
“San Bernardino has practically doubled its consumption in the last two years due to the large amount of new construction and also the new users that we have,” Chase explained.
In this context, he specified that they currently have 700 new connection requests. Said growth occurred in just one year and with it, the momentum that this summer city is experiencing is noticeable.
“We believe that this real estate growth will continue for quite some time. The service area of San Bernardino does not cover all the neighborhoods, but through an intervention by the Executive Power, today we are assisting sanitation boards that are not being able to meet their objective, ”he mentioned.
The senior state official ratified the commitment to continue working to shorten the historical gaps in terms of access to this essential service that brings many benefits for the population. “We want to continue dignifying the Paraguayan people,” he stressed.
Previously, the head of state enabled a similar work also in the department of Cordillera, which will generate relief for some 15,000 people from Emboscada, who for 40 years have been struggling with the scarcity of drinking water.
New technical assistance premises in Eusebio Ayala
Also during his visit to the third department, the president along with other authorities inaugurated the headquarters of the Local Agency for Technical Assistance (ALAT), of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, in the district of Eusebio Ayala.
The Agency offers producers the opportunity to have MAG technicians closer, with a more efficient agricultural extension and closer to the people.
