The Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) will invest more than 1,100 million soles in the construction of 6 hospitals, the new headquarters of the Institute of Ophthalmology and a kidney care center, as well as the purchase of modern equipment for Piura, which will benefit thousands of policyholders from this region in the north of the country.
This was announced by the executive president of EsSalud, Alegre Fonseca Espinoza, who completed a two-day work visit in Piurawhere he supervised the medical services of the main health establishments in that region, among other activities.
He said that the public call for the construction, via public-private association, of the high complexity hospital of the Piura Assistance Network, a work in which they will invest 567 million soleswhich includes equipment and specialized personnel.
He specified that the future hospital will be built on a plot of more than 15 thousand square meterslocated in the Veintiséis de Octubre district, and will benefit nearly 700,000 policyholders in Piura.
He also said that With a budget of 290 million soles, a modern level II-2 hospital will be built in Talara and 4 modular or rapid construction hospitals in Sechura (Vice district), Chulucanas, Catacaos and Veintiséis de Octubre.. For these last projects, a total of S/ 160 million will be allocated.
More investments
In addition, Fonseca Espinoza announced an investment of almost 80 million soles for the construction of a kidney care center and the new headquarters of the Peruvian Institute of Ophthalmology (IPO)an EsSalud center specializing in corneal transplants.
He noted that with a budget of 413 thousand soles, work will be carried out to expand and improve medical services at the Jorge Reátegui hospital and CAP III Castilla.
Likewise, he pointed out that with an item of 7.63 million soles, the purchase of a 126-slice tomograph, 14 ophthalmological equipment, 1 sterilizing machine with an electric generator and 4 urban-rural ambulances for the transfer of patients from the Assistance Network. Piura.
He also confirmed the hiring of 333 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, medical technologists, obstetricians, pharmaceutical chemists, dentists and other specialists, in order to strengthen health services in this region.
