Esperanza Martínez, a national senator for the Guasu Front, announced on Monday that she is withdrawing from her presidential intentions for 2023. In an interview for 730 AM, she announced that she will remain within the Coalition despite the decision she made.
Unlike Sixto Pereira, Jorge Querey and Fulgencio “Kencho” Rodríguez, FG senators who have already announced their departure from the Coalition, Martínez maintained that he will remain in the opposition bloc.
Regarding his presidential intentions, he affirmed that he always fought to lead the duo, because he considers that the space of the Guasu Front brings the most innovative slogans for national politics. “I was talking with Hugo Fleitas and Martín Burt until the day before, trying to find cohesion. They have their own structures, it is not easy to give up their own candidacies”, he stated.
He pointed out that the PLRA is not a disciplined party, but rather it is about leaders grouped in benches. “I would like there to be alternation, even though I am not President of the Republic. It was a very painful decision, but my political work to fight for the Concertación to maintain a political unity”, she commented.
