Medina described conversation with Richard Acuña as “a misinterpretation”
After it became known the image of the conversation with Richard Acuña, Congressman Esdras Medina spoke out through his social networks to reject the alleged “misinterpretations” regarding the chat with the former parliamentarian of Alianza para el Progreso and considered that these belong to a “political and private nature.”
He also considered that these actions seek to damage his image and the ‘search for consensus in the congressional operation’. He criticized that his ‘right to privacy’ was violated by capturing a photograph and reiterated that these events seek to harm to the leader of the Popular Renewal political party, Rafael López Aliaga.
“I reject the misinterpretations of private political conversations, which harm the search for consensus in the functioning of Congress. (…) The right to privacy has been violated by illegally capturing images from cell phones, with the sole purpose of damaging the political image of the president of our party and our bench,” reads the statement.
However, he mentioned that he takes responsibility for the chat he had with Acuna Nunez and apologized to his colleagues in his parliamentary group and to the former presidential candidate Lopez Aliaga for the alleged ‘misunderstanding’, and stressed that the publication of the news outlet ‘has been taken out of context’.
“I also take full responsibility for this communication and extend my apologies to the members of my party and to our leader, Rafael López Aliaga, for any misunderstanding that this communication, taken out of context, may have caused,” wrote Esdras Medina.
