With 13 days to go until the start of the strike in the construction sector, the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac) and the Single Union of Construction and Similar Workers (Suntracs) are frantically seeking an approach to the figures for salary adjustment to avoid the strike announced for next April 4 by the workers.

The workers aspire to a “salary adjustment” of 0.16 in the first year; 0.16 in the second; 0.17 the third and 0.18 the fourth year. Faced with this situation, members of Suntracs went to the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) on Monday to deliver the strike declaration document that would begin on April 4 if no agreements were reached with Capac.

Erasmo Cerrud, defense secretary of the union, stated that they continue to negotiate with the intention of reaching an agreement, and explained that Capac made a counterproposal for an increase of three additional cents to its original proposal of seven cents, which makes an increase of ten cents. cents divided into four years.
