The service was cut off due to modernization work at the Manantiales plant.
EPM announced, this Monday, October 13, the reestablishment of the aqueduct service to 1,139,853 users in the municipalities of Bello, Copacabana and Girardota, as well as in northern and central-eastern sectors of the Medellín District, after the scheduled interruption to carry out the modernization works of the Manantiales plant.
According to EPM, The service is provided normally in the 26 circuits scheduled for interruption. The last of the circuits that remained to re-enter the aqueduct system was Niquía and it came into operation at dawn this Monday.
From the entity, some Recommendations for the time of reset:
– The network needs to stabilize, so it is important to use water sparingly when you return. If all users consume high amounts simultaneously, the system will take longer to normalize and It will take longer for all the homes and businesses in the sector to have water again.
–At first the water may be cloudy. This is normal, it is part of the network stabilization process and it is a temporary situation. However, it is recommended to wait for the water to return to its normal conditions before consuming it and washing clothes.
-If by the time the aqueduct service is restored, there is still water stored, It is recommended to use it to water plants, clean or wash bathrooms.
– If the water arrives with a different color, it is suggested Do not use bleach on clothing or floors until the color returns to normal.
The modernization of the Manantiales plant will allow the system’s infrastructure to be strengthened, incorporate new technologies, optimize the purification processes and ensure quality drinking water for the next 50 years.
