This Wednesday, Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) performed the rejection tests at maximum power for the first two generation units of the Hidroituango plant.

According to Jorge Andrés Carrillo, manager of the company, the two units passed the test successfully. As he explained this is only a new confirmation that the control unit is ready to work.
Although EPM had already put the plant into commercial operation, with this milestone it will be able to operate continuously with the turbines that are capable of generating 600 megawatts.
For these tests the evacuation of 5,200 people from 4 municipalities had been carried out located downstream that had to come out preventively.

the company continues with the construction of units 3 and 4 which must start operating before November 30, 2023, with which compliance the company would complete the energy delivery obligations that it had acquired in past auctions. This completion is in the hands of Schrader Camargo.
