House arrest is granted to Enzo Cardozo, minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), during the Fernando Lugo government and current Mercosur parliamentarian.
The Sentencing Court complied with the provisions of the Appeals Chamber that revoked the pretrial detention.
Cardozo was sentenced to 10 years in prison for breach of trust for almost G. 70 billion (US$ 10 million) on November 28. The politician had offered a bail of G. 20 billion to recover his freedom, since he has been behind bars since last November 30. Fact that makes it impossible for him to fulfill his obligations as a Parlasurian.
Prosecutors Néstor Coronel and Alma Zayas had requested that the preventive detention not be revoked until the sentence is final and enforceable.
