The Multisector for Wetlands, together with Rosario neighbors, cut off traffic on the Rosario-Victoria bridge to demand an end to “intentional” burning on the islands of the Paraná Delta, which “affect the health of the population and put the wetland”.
Some 200 protesters totally interrupted vehicular traffic on both sides of the bridge from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., which caused delays for drivers trying to travel along the road that connects Santa Fe with Entre Ríos.
“We cut today because we do not want to suffer suffocation from smoke once again and we are not going to sit idly by watching columns of smoke that mean the destruction of the little wetland that is left alive,” one of the organizers, Julieta Bernabé, told Télam.
In turn, he considered that “the logic of the facts shows that there is intentionality when simultaneous fires are registered in different regions, as happened last week in the towns of San Pedro, Villa Constitución, Pueblo Esther, Villa Gobernador Gálvez, Rosario and San Lorenzo. “.
In that sense, he pointed out that in recent days “more than 7,000 hectares affected by fire were registered in various locations in the south of Santa Fe and in part of Buenos Aires, where smoke inhalation was greatly suffered.”
