The Presidential Delegation of the Metropolitan Region has declared environmental pre-emergency for this Tuesday due to poor ventilation conditions in the Santiago basin. This measure was taken following the recommendation of the Regional Ministerial Secretariat (Seremi) for the Environment of the region, which registered a worsening in the concentrations of Fine Particulate Matter in the basin during the early morning.
In this environmental pre-emergency, certain restrictions have been established to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the area. Among the outstanding measures is the prohibition of the use of wood-burning heaters and wood derivatives, including pellets, throughout the Metropolitan Region. In addition, vehicle restrictions have been implemented that mainly affect the transport of cargo with a green seal, such as vans, vans and trucks whose license plates end in the digits 6 and 7.
Vehicle restrictions also affect other types of vehiclessuch as cars with a green seal prior to September 2011, which cannot circulate between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. if their license plates end in 4 or 5. Likewise, cars without a green seal and motorcycles from 2002 are restricted permanent to transit inside the Américo Vespucio Ring and outside it, in the provinces of Santiago, San Bernardo and Puente Alto, if its patents end in 8, 9, 0, 1, 2 or 3.
The vehicles green-sealed cargo transportation have their circulation restricted with 2 random digits in the provinces of Santiago, San Bernardo and Puente Alto between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. if their license plates end in 6 or 7. On the other hand, cargo transport vehicles without a green seal must comply with restrictions that include 4 random digits in the same communes and hours, if their license plates end in 8, 9, 0, 1, 4 or 5.
In addition to these vehiclesprivate paid passenger transport buses, interurban and rural buses without a green seal have their circulation restricted between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the province of Santiago and the communes of San Bernardo and Puente Alto if their licenses expire in 8, 9, 0, 1, 2 or 3.
