Arbeleche spoke about environmental economics and sustainable financing
The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Azucena Arbeleche, participated, in recent days, in different activities carried out in New York City, in which she spoke about the actions implemented by the current administration in reference to the incorporation of environmental issues into the economic policy and sustainable financing strategy developed by the country.
During his visit to the United States, Arbeleche participated in various events, including Climate Week, the opening of the general debate of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) and meetings organized by the Financial Alliance Glasgow Group for Net Zero (GFANZ), the main international coalition of financial institutions committed to the decarbonization of the economy, to whose Regional Board for Latin America and the Caribbean she is an advisor.
Additionally, he attended a business forum organized by Bloomberg Philanthropies and presented at the Wall Street Sustainability Forum for Young Professionals. In another order, he held meetings with the Undersecretary General of the UN, Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Development Program of that organization (UNDP), Michelle Muschett, and with the Undersecretary General of the UN and Director of the UNDP Office of Policy and Program Support, Marcos Neto.
Throughout her participation in the calls, the Secretary of State spoke about the actions implemented by the current national Government that allowed environmental issues to be incorporated into economic policy, as well as the sustainable financing strategy developed by Uruguay.
On the other hand, during his visit to New York City, he was part of the delegation that accompanied the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, to the UN headquarters, where the president participated in the general debate of the General Assembly of the mentioned entity. Also attending were the chancellor, Omar Paganini; the general director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diego Escuder, and other diplomatic representatives. In addition, Arbeleche attended a meeting between the President of the Republic and the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres.
