Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MMARN) expressed its confidence that the justice system will apply the sanctions established by law against the accused of causing a clearing on a steep slope of the dry forest of the Buen Hombre coastin Villa Vasquez, Montecristi.
The environmental agency praised the decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to proceed with the execution of an arrest warrant against Bartolo Castro, against whom the Ministry of the Environment filed a formal complaint, with constitution as a civil plaintiff, for the aforementioned crime.
In a statement, the Ministry of the Environment said that the arrest warrant was executed before the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of the Environment (Proedemaren), headed by the court attorney, Francisco Contreras.

He also recalled that Castro promotes on his social networks a sketch in which he promotes a real estate project located in the same area that is the subject of the complaint. In addition, he advertises on his Instagram account leveling and construction activities in the area.
He stated that the accusatory file consists of a technical report from the Directorate of Inspection and the Vice Ministry of Forest Resources, which determined that the project included clearing, cutting and removal of vegetation, as well as land leveling activities on an area of fifty-four thousand square meters.
