The enactment of the Environmental Education Law, the increase in financing for the fight against forest fires and for the extension of protected areas together with the document on Climate Change presented to the United Nations were the relevant points of the 2021 report on the environmental status in the country that today presented the portfolio led by Juan Cabandié.
“We work together with public and private institutions and civil society organizations to carry out a holistic situation study that analyzes all the edges that constitute the environment from the conviction that access to information is a right of all Argentines” , highlighted Cabandié.
The document highlights the enactment of Law No. 27621 on Comprehensive Environmental Education, “which marked a milestone in the implementation of environmental public policies” while noting the increase in financing for fighting forest fires of $2,640 million, from the creation of a trust with a rate of insurance policies.
This is the seventh report on the state of the environment in Argentina and was prepared in compliance with the General Environmental Law, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
It also provides a survey of the total Provincial Protected Areas (APP), which in 2021 reached 471, which is equivalent to 35,535,759 hectares.
It also details the five species of primates native to Argentina, which are at risk of extinction, “and which since 2021 have the Primate Conservation Plan, which seeks to respond to local populations in decline according to the evaluation of the state of national conservation”.
