He Social Policy Cabinet said that it delivered more than RD$25 million in medicines and medical supplies to the communities affected by the floods in Gaspar Hernández, Espaillat province, “as part of the immediate response to the emergency caused by the intense rains of recent days.”
The medicines were donated, thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Social Cabinet and the El Buen Samaritano Foundation.
The assistance includes sunglasses, contact lenses for presbyopia, drinking water and rations of raw and cooked food, in support of families impacted by the flooding of the Joba, Jamao and Yásica rivers, which caused landslides, landslides and the displacement of hundreds of people.
The delivery took place at the Gaspar Hernández Fire Department and was headed by the Health Director of the Social Cabinet, Guillermo Moringlane, representing the director, Geanilda Vásquez.
The day also included the presence of the mayor of the municipality, Abelito Suriel; the provincial director of Health, Dr. José Jerez Camacho and the directors of the district boards of Joba Arriba and Villa Magante, Dibanny Martínez and Balaan Ramos, as well as other provincial and municipal authorities.
The director of the Social Policy Cabinet, Geanilda Vasquezassured that the services of the institutions that make up the Social Protection Network are guaranteed to come to the aid of the affected communities.
He explained that a technical team made up of several State institutions carried out a survey in the area to provide a detailed report on the damage caused.
