The deputy for the province of La Vega of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Edwin Mejía, assured that the project that seeks to reduce to zero rate more than 60 products of the basic basket was not agreed or debated with the productive sectors of this province, to know its real impact on local production.
Mejía maintained “that this project is not true that it will serve to stop the upward escalation that the products that make up the basic basket carry and that the government has not been able to stop”, for which he understands “that these measures deserve to be placed at a discussion table , because they immediately affect local producers, this without the government neglecting to implement other measures that the opposition has suggested to mitigate the economic situation of households”.
“The PLD withdrew from the chamber because it does not support and will never support any measure that puts at risk and slows down the development of producers and national production,” said the legislator from La Vega.
He recalled that he submitted a draft resolution to the General Legislative Secretariat of the Chamber of Deputies, with which he seeks that the government grant a subsidy to lower the costs of agricultural producers, however, before proposals to benefit the productive sectors, the executive guards silence and remain inactive.
