Enrique Ghersi on the ruling of the TC: "We must consider the rights of the victims of Terrorism"

To Enrique Ghersiconstitutional lawyer constitutional Court commits “a serious error” in this sentence. An error that can be corrected in the Congress of the republic with a new law.

“A law of constitutional development of the principles of penitentiary law: reinsertion, rehabilitation and re-education. In other words, a law in Congress that can be approved with a simple ordinary majority, which establishes how rehabilitation, re-education and social reinsertion should be obtained. Which gives it a legal framework, and in this way there is no contradiction. Above all, because we must take into consideration the rights of the victims of Terrorism”indicated.

He also said that if Congress does not act, there is a risk that those sentenced for Terrorism could become school teachers within the state apparatus.

“Any person convicted of terrorism can not only be a candidate, but can be a public official, school teacher, anything, and this can be extended to any other crime such as a thief or rapist, under this ruling we could have a thief as Controller General of the Republic”he concluded.
