UTE advances in the implementation of rural electrification and will apply a discount on the energy rate to fish processing plants
In a joint plan with the Office of Planning and Budget (OPP), the MGAP, and the National Institute of Colonization, UTE promotes the electrification strategy in rural areas throughout the national territory.
While at the beginning of the current government period, some 4,600 households did not have access to electricity because they were located farthest from the networks, there are currently some 800 homes without electricity service.
In response to the crisis facing the fishing industry, UTE President Silvia Emaldi reported that the UTE Board of Directors approved a 15% monthly discount on energy consumption rates for processing plants in this sector for a period of one year.
This measure, which will represent a saving of around 16 million pesos, will reach some 33 companies. He also explained that the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) will be the agency in charge of sending UTE the list of companies included in the benefit. The discount will be applied starting in August and will remain valid for one year.
The measure is part of the provisions adopted by the Executive Branch for the fishing sector as support in the face of the difficulties it is facing, he said.
He also recalled that during this period UTE also contributed to other sectors, such as farming, dairy farming and winemaking.
The public company also developed commercial plans offered to the productive sector and to small and medium-sized companies, with special rates. Additionally, it implemented special benefits for households, residents in vulnerable areas and companies of different sizes.
For this reason, the company provides the service in rural areas by installing photovoltaic solar panels or extending overhead networks.
