Energy union makes proposals to the State to protect users

The grouping of Colombian energy groups made a series of recommendations to the State so as not to “harm” consumers at the national level.

Said requests would be focused on the State can provide guarantees so that energy companies have greater possibilities of improving the service provided to their users.

The energy sector seeks to generate an agreement on the basic structural principles to strengthen the energy service, the development of its infrastructure, and the framework of regulatory and market operation on which the activities that allow its sustainability for the good of the country and the usersthe union said in a statement.

It is worth clarifying that this is also related to the power assumed by Petro to manage public services personally at the national level.

The requests of the energy union

In the letter published by the associations, A total of 10 proposals were defined for the Government to carry out.

1. Respect for the freedom of operation of companies, as well as the participation of capital of public, private and mixed origin in operations related to energy.

2. Respect for the responsibilities and functions of each of the groups belonging to the Colombian energy sector.

3. Universal accessibility to essential energy services.

4. Quality and reliability in the provision of said services.

5. Efficiency in rates for services under regulation and in predetermined markets.

6. Financial sufficiency for companies providing public services.

7. Positively promote the exploration of hydrocarbons and fossil fuels to meet the demand for energy at the national level.

8. Regulatory and legal stability for the provision and investment of services in the present and in the future.

9. Respect and compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations related to the technical, legal and economic principles of the energy sector.

10. Agility in the procedures for processing infrastructure expansion projects for all activities in the sector.

The association of energy service companies hopes that the Government abides by and enforces all these requirements so that in that way “Providers and users achieve a sectoral modernization that builds on what has been built, guarantees the sufficiency and self-sustainability of the supply and allows efficient rates that reflect the efforts required to build reliability and security”, the circular ended.
