Energy crisis: two units do not synchronize in time and the deficit overcomes the planned

The forecasts of the Electric Union (UNE) collided again this Wednesday with the critical reality of the generation on the island.

The official prognosis, already high, fell short from the non -synchronization of the planned units, although today only referred to one of them.

According to What was published by the UNEthe maximum affectation yesterday was 1911 MW at 9:50 at night, a figure “superior to what is not planned by not entering the Peak 6 of the Máximo Gómez Cte (Mariel).”

This unit was one of the two who, according to The previous reportthey had to synchronize in the night peak on Wednesday and apparently did that time have already passed.

The other was the unit 6 of Renté, which today is still in fault, although it is unnestiously – provides its incorporation for tonight next to the broken block 6 of new new and power plants of Varadero and Boca de Jaruco, which yesterday did not appear reported outside the national electrical system (SEN).

If so, the availability at night will be 1985 MW – at 7:00 in the morning it was 100 MW less – and the affectation will amount to 1785 MW, an amount that a few months ago would be among the highest of the historical record, but which has been far exceeded in recent weeks, in the middle of an exacerbation of the prolonged energy crisis on the island.

The complex electrical scenario on the island is marked by the constant ruptures of thermal units and insufficient maintenance work or that fail to keep the plants generating for the expected time underway, which has given the fret with the government strategy that intended to reduce the blackouts during the summer.

But, on the contrary, the cuts extend regularly by more than 20 and for more than 30 hours in a row in numerous locations of the island, with the consequent aggravation that this implies for the daily life of the Cubans and also for the economy of the country.

Another negative variable is the chronic fuel deficit, which this Thursday maintained 61 distributed generation plants. Although it is a lower figure than that reported in previous weeks, it is 430 MW less than they will not recover on this day.

For others, the thermal limitations – that is, the electricity that will cease to occur due to difficulties in the thermoelectric plants that are in operation – will amount to 390 MW, another considerable amount, to which the already permanent loss of the 240 MW that produced the Turkish melons produced, which already abandoned Cuba after its recent disconnection must be added.

With all the above, this Thursday will be a long day of long blackouts in much of the island, in the middle of a summer that is very dark than planned by the authorities and, logically, of what was desired by Cubans.
