The National Energy Commission published this Friday the preliminary draft of the National Energy Plan 2022-2026, as a mandate of Law 125 – 01 General Electricity Law, which is an integral instrument that serves as guidance in the energy field to the Executive Branch, whose purpose is to determine the Satisfaction of all national energy needs in the short, medium and long term, at costs that are appropriate for all social sectors and that contribute to competitiveness to the country, promoting healthy energy consumption habits, ensuring the country’s energy independence within a framework of regional integration, through sustainable policies from both an economic and environmental point of view.
The issuance of this draft document is carried out at the request of the General Law of Free Access to Public Information, Law 200 – 04 and based on compliance with the administrative procedure on rules and plans expressed in articles 30 and 31 of Law 107-13, Law on the Rights of People in their Relations with the Administration and Administrative Procedures. Likewise, the issue was endorsed by the Executive Board of the Commission, made up of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, who presides over it, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, at their ordinary meeting on December 1st.
Within a reasonable period of time, the CNE technical team will be receiving inquiries and proposals for improvements via its web platform and email described on the portal. This base document will serve as a general guide for making decisions about the national energy policy, expansion plans, investment and implementation of an effective energy transition. The National Energy Commission is the state entity of public order, decentralized, created by the general electricity law, attached to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, is in charge of the planning and operation of the energy sector, administers energy production and distribution concessions, orders incentives for the development of renewable energy integration, regulates operations with elements that emit ionizing radiation, among other legal functions.
