Energies presented to the Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, the progress in the construction of the plant of generation Energies 4, located in San Pedro de Macorís. This new facility will add 130 MW to the three existing plants, reaching a total capacity of 430 MW. The volume would make it the plant biggest of gas natural of the country.
In a press release it was highlighted that the construction of Energies 4 represents a investment of RD$13,420 million, positioning itself as a key project in the sector Dominican energetic.
The plant will generate, according to the company, more than RD$ 610 million in income annual tax payments and estimated savings of RD$ 15,250 million in subsidies to the State during the period 2025-2026.
During its construction, it was highlighted, it has generated more than 600 jobs direct and 1,200 indirect.
Environmental contribution
Energies 4 will allow reducing the emission of 200,000 tons of CO2 per year, a crucial advance in sustainabilityit was highlighted. Since his transition to gas natural in 2020, Energies has achieved a cumulative reduction of 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to the planting of 4.5 million trees or the emissions of 340,000 vehicles.
The plant will have the capacity to operate with gas natural, diesel and even hydrogen in the future, strengthening the flexibility and reliability of the electrical system. Roberto Herrera, general manager, received the minister and highlighted the economic and environmental contributions.
