The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos, stated, this Tuesday (25), that the debate on the end of the 6×1 scale will involve a transition to micro and small companies. According to him, the discussion should be carried out at the legislative level when the text is approved..
“It’s difficult for us to anticipate what the format will be, because this requires calculations of fiscal impact. But there are paths, paths that can be with stimulus or tax relief for small businesses, have a degree of compensation”, he said, in an interview with Brazil Agency and TV Brasilafter participating in the Good morning, Minister programin Brasilia.
The Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) No. 8/2025, which ends the scale of six days of work for one day off (6×1) was filed with the Chamber of Deputies in February this year. The PEC establishes a working day of a maximum of 36 hours per week and 4 working days per week, but there are other proposals in Congress that deal with reduction of working hours.
The project is resisted by business sectors who claim that the measure would lead to an increase in companies’ operating costs by hiring more workers. For Boulos, the government and parliament understand that it will be necessary to build paths so that small businesses are not “left in the rain”.
“We have to separate very well what is the big businessman, the corporation, the banker and what is the small one. The one there who has a small workshop, who has a place to eat, who has a business there with three, with five employees. For this small one you have to have a transition model so that the sustainability of the business is not harmed by the end of the 6×1 scale”, he said.
“Now for the big [empresário]this one can hold [os custos]”, he added.
According to Boulos, the imposed workload affects millions of workers who do not have time for the minimum. “Sometimes you have your day off on a weekday when your wife is working, your children are at school, you can’t spend time with your family, you can’t take care of the house, have time to enjoy leisure, to graduate from a course”, he exemplified.
