Students from the two units of the National School of Biological Sciences (ENCB) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) met last Thursday with authorities from the university, who offered to buy with their own resources some missing materials in the school, which was qualified by the community of lack of seriousness and sensitivity
before your demands.
In a series of audios sent to this newspaper with fragments of what was discussed at the meeting the day before yesterday, the person in charge of the academic secretary’s office, Igor Jasso, can be heard assuring that the directors of the IPN “are willing to attend to them, and if we they say ‘we need flasks, slides, Petri dishes or Vacutainer tubes’, I am willing to sacrifice my heritage budget and go with you to buy what we find”.
Consulted on the subject, Minerva Nájera Martínez, a professor at the ENCB, explained that the official’s statement was poorly received by students and teachers, considering that it demonstrated a lack of knowledge about the complexity of the problems in the IPN.
The statement is not at all acceptable, because it is easy for him to believe that buying some Vacutainer tubes and some Petri dishes will solve all the problems of lack of supplies. Also, if he says that he is willing to buy them with his own money, then where was the budget?

Offensive
He stressed that Jasso’s comment was offensive
because he is not understanding that, beyond going shopping, in other schools there are unusable laboratories. An authority that makes these proposals had better be removed from the post due to its lack of sensitivity

The assembly of both units of the ENCB announced that, after a face-to-face and online survey, it decided to carry out a 48-hour strike – which ended this Friday – and defined its action plan for the coming days.
Among the proposals endorsed by the school community, is working together with teachers and education support and assistance staff, unifying the petitions of the three sectors of the ENCB and closing avenues and sources of income of the school If you don’t see satisfactory progress
of the demands exposed to the authorities.
