What seemed like a routine work morning ended in moments of tension for employees of the Garrido store, located on Duarte Avenue, when a fire forced the building to be evacuated minutes after starting the day.
A company employee, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the fire took them by surprise after 7:00 in the morning, just when the day’s work began.
“It was a any work morning. Some of us had already entered; those from the first enter store and those of the café. I had arrived and was in my area when it all started,” he said.
- According to his version, the fire would have originated in the fourth level of the building, presumably in one of the electric breakers.
“They say it started in one of the breakers. The smoke started to leave and at once evacuated“he explained.
The employee described scenes of nervousness while activating the evacuation protocol to get out staff quickly.
The official causes of the fire They have not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
Staff was dispatched
He staff who came in after 8:00 in the morning, showed up for work like every day and met the situation.
However, still at noon the cashier employees and other areas remained in the surroundings of the place to find out how the work to put out the fire was being carried out.
One of the supervisors had to approach the group to reiterate that they had been dispatched and they should go to their homes, because there would be no work.
