The case occurred on January 11 and was reported on the 15th
The National Police reported on the arrest of a man identified as one of two people responsible for the robbery perpetrated in the administrative offices of the Tourist Port of Cabo Rojo, in the province of Flintswhere the sum of RD$796,000 and US$500 (about 30 thousand pesos) in cash was stolen.
This is Jeffrey Yulianny Colón Pérez (a) Yefri, 25 years old, an employee of the aforementioned Port, who was detained at his residence by means of arrest and search warrant No. 592-2026-00002-AP. Clothing used by one of the assailants was found in the detainee’s possession, as seen in the images captured by the building’s security cameras.
According to the preliminary report, the incident occurred last Saturday, January 11, 2025, but was officially reported on Wednesday, January 15, by the representative of the affected company, who indicated that the case had been handled internally before notifying the authorities. According to the initial report, two hooded strangers entered the place without forcing the doors, taking advantage of the lack of locks in the offices.
In the investigation, led by the Public Ministry and agents from the Investigation Department (DICRIM) and technicians from the Scientific Police, fingerprints were collected, and the images captured by the security cameras were analyzed. These showed two hooded subjects, one of them carrying a silver firearm.
Capture
Subsequently, DICRIM agents carried out the raid on Colón Pérez’s residence, where they seized a black coat and a red blanket with characteristics similar to those observed in the security videos, as well as a cell phone.
The detainee will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes.
Fugitive
Likewise, the authorities indicated that they are working on the identification of a second man who was observed in the surveillance camera videos committing the crime alongside the detainee.
The National Police continues working to clarify this case and continue with the investigations until all those responsible for this crime are captured.
