Santo Domingo.-The rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Editrudis Beltranannulled the hiring of personnel, promotions, administrative appointments, bonuses and payments of extraordinary days arranged during the management of Emma Polancoin the last six months, at the state academy.
The suspended personnel actions correspond to the period between January 17 and 17 of this month.
The university official expressed that the measure is in correspondence with the new institutional philosophy of the UASD to “optimize spending”.
The decision is contained in the two-paragraph circular number 2022-001, signed by Beltrán and sent to the Human Resources Department of the Institution.

“In response to such provision, we have instructed the General Directorate of Human Resources to proceed in each case as appropriate,” indicates the document dated the 21st of this month.
Beltrán said that the measure that annuls the aforementioned personnel actions were ordered by the University Council of the UASD in its extraordinary session on the 19th of this month, through resolution number 2022-253.

He did not say what number of personnel is in that situation or how much resources he will save with the measure.
Beltrán was sworn in as the new rector of the UASD last Saturday the 16th of this month, for the period 2022-2026, during a ceremony attended by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.
The new rector was elected in the elections held by the academy on June 16 with 57.4% of the votes, against his rival Jorge Asjana, who achieved 40.4%.
She replaces Dr. Emma Polanco, who directed the institution during the 2018-2022 period.

In his inaugural speech, Beltrán announced actions to resolve overcrowding in classrooms and review the training programs of all careers and faculties.
He also said that his administration will be based on careful spending and transparency.
Among the measures announced for his first 100 days in office is to monitor fuel consumption and the use of paper, to make the most of the resources of the State academy.
He considered that the UASD deserves a process of reforms to respond to the expectations of students and teachers so that this academy continues to set standards in the development of the country.
