Santo Domingo.-The Emergency Operations Center (COE) places 03 provinces and the National District on yellow alert and maintains 05 on green, due to the incidence of a trough associated with a frontal system that is generating clouds over the southern portion of the island, with the occurrence of moderate showers at times towards areas of the Caribbean coast.
Precipitation is expected to strengthen throughout the day into the evening, with heavy showers at times, thunderstorms and locally intense gusts of wind.
These conditions have the potential to generate urban flooding, especially in the most vulnerable areas.

The provinces on yellow alert are San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, Distrito Nacional and Santo Domingo.
While the provinces under green alert are María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Duarte, La Romana and La Altagracia.
The population is recommended to avoid crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water, especially in the provinces under alert.
These measures seek to prevent accidents and flooding in vulnerable areas.
Likewise, starting today, Wednesday and tomorrow, Thursday (New Year), operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels are recommended to navigate with extreme caution along the entire Caribbean coast.
Heavy downpours, electrical shocks, gusts of wind and abnormal waves could affect visibility and navigation safety.
