Authorities of the Social Security Fund (CSS) reported, on the afternoon of this Friday, March 4, the temporary suspension of elective and emergency surgeries at the Gustavo Nelson Collado de Chitré hospital after problems occurred in the air conditioner.
There are problems with the hospital’s air conditioner, explained Luis Rodríguez, institutional medical director of the CSS in the province of Herrera. He explained that there are problems with the cooling pipes of the chillers (chiller unit) of the system and ensured that maintenance personnel located the damage, after using a backhoe.
He said that work is being done to obtain the piece, but he acknowledged that it will take a few days.
Given this situation, it was decided to temporarily suspend elective and emergency surgeries in the hospital. Regarding the latter, he pointed out that the realization of these will be coordinated with hospitals in the periphery.
