The Brazilian Company for Research and Industrial Innovation (Embrapii) announced today (19) investment of BRL 45 million in partnership with industry and research centers. The units will be accredited to work with Embrapii centers.
The announced resources will be used for innovation projects in the areas of agribusiness, biofuels, chemical inputs, energy, health, connectivity, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and computer vision. The money is the result of partnerships with the Ministries of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and Education (MEC).
As Embrapii’s investments require financial compensation from partner companies and research centers, it is estimated that the total investment in innovation will be R$ 150 million.
Of the accredited research centers, four are in the state of São Paulo: Embrapa Instrumentation/SP and University of São Paulo/ICMC (in São Carlos), University of São Paulo/IQ (in São Paulo) and State University of Campinas/FEQ.
Two centers are in Belo Horizonte (Foundation for Technological Innovations and Federal University of Minas Gerais/CTNano) and two in Recife (Senai/DR and Federal University of Pernambuco/FITPEG). The other accredited units are Senai DR (in Maringá/PR) and State University of Paraíba/Nutes (Campina Grande/PB).
In addition to these new accreditations, Embrapii already has a network of 89 partner institutions, which work in cooperation to foster innovation in the business sector. In its nine years, Embrapii supported 1,800 projects, totaling R$ 2.6 billion.
