The Brazilian company Embraer, one of the main manufacturers of executive jets in the world, and the Indian company Adani Defense & Aerospace signed, this Saturday (21), in New Delhi, an agreement to establish a final assembly line for the E175 regional jet, in India.
According to Embraer, the expanded memorandum of understanding was signed within the scope of the Indian Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) program, consolidating the initial agreement, signed last month, to structure the production of the E175 in India.
“The two companies are already working together to advance all aspects of the memorandum of understanding, including opportunities in aircraft manufacturing, supply chain, after-sales services, pilot training and obtaining orders that support the proposed final assembly line,” Embraer said in a statement.
The agreement was signed during an official ceremony, in the presence of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, Piyush Goyal. According to Embraer and Adani, the commercial partnership reinforces strategic relations between the two countries.
India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world in terms of passenger traffic, with an estimated demand of at least 500 aircraft in the 80 to 146 seat range over the next 20 years. A demand to which the E175 model fits well, according to Embraer.
Also according to the Brazilian company, the E175 is a viable option to serve small and medium-sized cities in India, being able to enable new routes and expand connectivity, “accelerating the expansion of regional aviation”.
The partnership with Adani, the largest private company in the defense and aerospace sectors in India, consolidates Embraer’s presence in the country, where 50 aircraft of 11 different commercial, defense and executive aviation models are currently in operation.
