For the companythird largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, the release is the recognition of the strategic importance of company activities for Brazil and the United States.

“We continue to believe and firmly defend the return to the zero fare rule to the global aerospace industry,” says the note from Embraer.

“Most importantly, we support continuous dialogue between Brazilian and American governments and remain confident in a positive result for both countries,” he adds.

Last week, the company reported that the 50% tariff would raise the price of each plane sold to the US by about $ 50 millionwhich would eventually make the sale unfeasible. Considering the period until 2030, the impact could reach $ 20 billion in tariffs.

In a note published, early in the evening, the American Chamber of Commerce to Brazil – AMcham Brasil estimates that 694 excluded products of the executive order represent US $ 18.4 billion in Brazilian exports in the last period (2024).

THE value corresponds to 43.4% of the total of US $ 42.3 billion exported by Brazil to the USaccording to the analysis of the entity.

Only the aircraft sector sold $ 2 billion last year, half only in light aircraft, Embraer’s main product. Only the fuel sector exports more, with US $ 18.4 billion in sales in 2024.

Since April 2, Embraer products have been taxed at 10%, which will remain in August.

Understand the tariff

In the executive order, which raised the rate to Brazilian products by 50%, Trump argues that the Brazil is an unusual and extraordinary threat to US national securitysimilar to the adopted against countries considered hostile to Washington, such as Cuba, Venezuela and Iran.

The document states that the Brazil would be chasing, intimidating and censoring “former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and thousands of his supporters who are serious human rights violations that undermined the rule of law in Brazil”.

In addition to the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro, Brazilian government measures regarding digital platforms and decisions of the Supreme Court Minister (STF) Alexandre de Moraes were cited as justifications for the tariffs applied by the United States to Brazil.

“Political persecution, through forged processes, threatens the orderly development of Brazil’s political, administrative and economic institutions, including undermining Brazil’s ability to hold a free and fair presidential election in 2026. The treatment given by the Government of Brazil to former President Bolsonaro also contributes to the deliberate collapse of the rule of law in Brazil, to politically motivated intimidation in that country and for human rights abuses.

In the US government document, the Minister Alexandre de Moraes is accused of abusing his judicial authority “To reach political opponents, protect corrupt allies and suppress dissent, often in coordination with other Brazilian authorities.” Trump accuses the minister of confiscating passports, arresting people without trial, and imposing fines on companies that have not complied with “their illegal censorship demands.”
