The leaders They ask President Gustavo Petro to give them land where they can move with their families, because they claim that they lost their territories due to the armed conflict.
They also allege that so far this year, due to the very precarious conditions in which they live, At least 38 minors have died, in addition to another 78 who died last year.

“Four thousand indigenous people arrived. The reason we arrived in Bogotá is because there are many government institutions that have not reached our territory and that worries us. One of the needs that forced us to arrive in this city is the death of indigenous children , which is constantly arriving and none of the institutions report to the National Government what is happening in the department of Risaralda. “In 2023, 78 children died, this year we have had 38 children die from malnutrition,” said Marco Fidel Guasarave, senior advisor of this Emberá community.
It is worth remembering that in September of this year, the Emberá community that was in the National Park returned to their territories.
However, the District emphasized that it will not allow them to return to this point in the city, which for months has been in the process of recovery and decoration for the end of the year, which is why they urge the National Government to confront it. to this situation.

“We ask the National Government to come and guarantee the well-being of these people who come with a list of requests for themand in that order of ideas, we must protect public space, we are taking care of it in the city of Bogotá. The National Park is something that we are recovering and that has cost us a lot of effort,” explained Miguel Silva, Secretary General of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá.
The leaders of the Emberá community assure that they will stay as long as necessary, until they are heard by the Government of President Gustavo Petro.
