During the inauguration of the judicial seat in the province of Chepén, in La Libertad, the supreme magistrate assured that the power she presides over is in charge of maintaining the balance in respecting the rights of all Peruvians, for which they require independence.
“In the current situation, as the Judiciary, we fulfill the task of pivotal power that maintains the fair balance of powers that the Political Constitution of the State has conferred on us, but which is increasingly required, and overwhelms, to succumb to the situation and not we are going to do it”he stated.
“That is why it is important to have a selection system for magistrates that gives confidence to citizens, because what we want is to have citizen confidence, which is difficult in the current situation when a lot is said and done,” he added.
Currently, a report prepared by the rapporteur Guillermo Thornberry to be evaluated in a process within the JNJ proposes that Barrios be removed from office due to an alleged irregular hiring of her husband in the National Elections Jury, something that he qualifies as “very lacking”. serious”.
