Businessman Elon Musk plans to unveil this Wednesday, at the Tesla Investor Dayhis Master Plan 3 for the manufacturer of electric vehicleswhich would include the presentation of a new vehicle platform for the production of cheaper models.
The new platform, the company’s third generation, would be the basis for the production of cheaper vehicles than current range Tesla as well as to manufacture “robo-taxis”automated taxis that will not need a driver.
During the presentation to be held at the gigafactory that Tesla has in the Texas town of Austin (USA), and which is scheduled to start at 21:00 GMT, Musk is also expected to offer details about the new assembly plant that the manufacturer will install in Mexico.
On Tuesday, the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, revealed that he had reached an agreement with Musk for the installation of a Tesla factory in the town of Monterrey, in the north of the country.
The plant, which would join those that Tesla has in the United States (Fremont, Austin and Nevada), China (Shanghai) and Germany (Berlin), it is necessary if Musk wants to fulfill his commitment to produce 20 million cars per year by 2030.
Last year, Tesla produced worldwide 1.31 million vehicular.
Also Musk is expected to announce updates on Wednesday for vehicles built on the company’s second-generation platform, the Model Y and Model 3.
Musk presented his first Master Plan for Tesla in 2006and now, 10 years later, the controversial businessman unveiled Master Plan 2 with his vision for the future development of the company.
