On Wednesday night Elizabeth Reyes was elected as the new president of Unidad Nacional (UN) in place of Samuel Doria Medina. The founder and historic leader now serves as the party’s general secretary.
“I congratulate Elizabeth Reyes on her election as the new president of Unidad Nacional. We comply with our alternation rules because that is how democracy is made. I am sure it will lead UN to many achievements. He has my active support, “said Doria Medina on social media.
Earlier, Doria Medina announced in the party congress that she would no longer run for the presidency of the political front and that she would promote the leadership of women. The UN leader indicated that he met the deadline to remain in the presidency, according to the statute.

Doria Medina, founded UN in 2003 and with that party participated as a presidential candidate in the general elections of 2005 and 2009, and in 2014 he also sought the presidential chair in alliance with the Social Democratic Movement (MDS).
Elizabeth Reyes was elected alternate deputy for UN in 2005, and in 2009 she was appointed incumbent deputy. During her tenure, she was president of the social policy commission of the Chamber of Deputies. In addition, he was a designer of the Law of the Day Off for Pap Smears and Mammography.
