By means of the Resolution No. 005-2022-DP, it is specified that Revollar Añaños will begin its work this Saturday, April 30. Also, it is specified that “will enjoy the immunity and prerogatives provided for in article 161 of the Constitution and will exercise all the powers and powers conferred by it, as well as by the Organic Law of the Ombudsman”.
The document also details that the appointment of the lawyer was made by the outgoing defender Walter Gutiérrez. It should be noted that Revollar was already working in the constitutional body as an adjunct defender of Women’s Rights.

Gutierrez’s departure
Walter Gutiérrez assumed the direction of the Ombudsman since 2016. Although his management should have ended in September 2021, in accordance with current regulations, his resignation only became present in March 2022. This Friday, April 29, is his last day of management.
During the presentation of his resignation, he announced that his institution submitted a “competence claim for impairment” before the Constitutional Court against the government of Pedro Castillo Terrones.
According to the information provided by Gutiérrez, the omission of the Executive’s response “undermines the possibility of the Ombudsman fulfilling its functions.” He specified that if the government “does not respond”, this would mean a “constitutional infraction” that could result in a sanction against the head of state.
