A work accident involving the fall of an elevator at a construction site resulted in the death of three workers, in Imbituba, municipality of Santa Catarina. At around 4:20 pm last Thursday (10), the Fire Department was called to respond to the incident.
The fall occurred when five workers were using the elevator to access the upper floors of a building under construction, according to information from firefighters.
One of the victims, who was in the elevator with four other people, reported to the corporation that the elevator stopped unexpectedly and then collapsed. The declarant clung to the structure of the building and managed to remain at the height of the seventh floor. The other four workers fell along with the elevator.
Two of them died at the scene. The remaining workers were taken to the hospital. One ended up dying in the unit, and two injured people were treated at the scene, one with polytrauma and the other with bruises.
