Privatization
In the early afternoon, the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, and the Ministers of Economy, Paulo Guedes, and of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida, participated in the bell ringing ceremony that marks the beginning of the privatization of Eletrobras. The ceremony took place at B3, in São Paulo.
At the ceremony, Minister Paulo Guedes recalled that Eletrobras’ capitalization operation was complex. “Privatization is super complex, as I said. [o presidente do BNDES, Gustavo] Montezano. BRL 5 billion goes to the nuclear program, BRL 32 billion goes to low tariffs, BRL 25 billion goes to the Union; R$ 10 billion for the revitalization of hydrographic basins. It has numerous dimensions and is the product of an enormous effort”, said Guedes.
The Minister of Economy also said that the privatization of the company will guarantee energy security for the country. “The mission is to leave this legacy for future generations. It is the world’s largest clean and renewable energy generation company, which is free. It’s like a son who left home at 18 and went for life. And now it will win and no longer need to be under the protection of the State. Eletrobras is now free, it is capitalized, it will continue, and it is the guarantee of Brazil’s energy security”, said the minister.
