On the afternoon of this Monday, March 7, Elena Cruz Guerra was proclaimed as the new Chief General of the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca, after a voting process supervised by the Electoral Tribunal in which 295 delegates from the General Congress participated.
On February 13, Cruz competed against four other women among the 16 candidates who competed for the position of chief general in the popular consultation in the region. It was the first elections in more than a decade and elections organized by the Electoral Tribunal (TE).
According to the electoral register, some 160,968 people were authorized to vote in 337 voting centers, with 493 tables.
