Electricity rates fell 8% in 2025, according to Osinergmin

During 2025, the electricity rates residential properties registered a reduction of 8%, reported the Supervisory Body for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin).

According to the regulator, these rates were reduced mainly due to the reduction in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and the drop of more than 10% in the dollar that was recorded last year.

Osinergmin highlighted the entry of new electrical infrastructure such as the “Extension 21” projects of REP, “220 kV Pariñas- Nueva Tumbes Link”, “500 kV La Niña Link – Piura” and reinforcements 1 and 2 of the Chilca – Marcona – Montalvo LT (“Extension of the Montalvo 500/220 kV SE” and “Expansion of the SE Poroma 500/220 kV”).

On the other hand, he reported that since January 4, the rates of the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN) have registered an average variation of 0.01% for home users. For commercial and industrial there is no variation.

“The variation in the residential ones is produced by the update of the Tolls of the Secondary and Complementary Transmission Systems in application of article 3 of Resolution 049-2025-OS/CD; in addition to the entry into commercial operation of the ‘SE Nueva Tumbes 220/60 kV-75 MVA’ project, the regulator indicated.
