As part of “Electric Pact”the clients of the Electricity Distribution Companies from the south (Edesur); from North (Edenonorth) and this (Edeeast), must pay 9% more in their electricity rate.
The electricity rate increase that will directly impact residential customers, is contained in the resolution SIE-021-2022-TF of the Superintendence of Electricity (SIE).
In that sense, said increase will be made in relation to the increases previously established for the January, February and March quarters, according to the SIE.

The resolution SIE-021-2022-TF It adds that the increase is due to the “current and widespread volatility in the international prices of mineral coal, natural gas, oil and derived fuels for electricity generation.”
Similarly, the resolution issued by the Superintendence of Electricity (SIE) It covers the isolated circuit system of the Pedernales province.
East 9% increase in the electricity rate will be applied to BTS-1, that is residential usewith a monthly consumption from 0 to 300 kWh.
The first adjustments to the electricity bill occurred since November of last year, taking as a parameter the last readjustment made in 2011.
Likewise, the previous resolution that covered the January, February and March quarter contemplated a fixed consumption charge for 100 kilowatt hours was RD$5.66; and from 201 kWh to 300 kWh at RD$7.99.
For small businesses, the increase will be more significant in relation to consumption kWh.

Electric Pact
Each increase in the electricity rate is contemplated in the signing of the “Electric Pact” for him government and business sector in the year 2021.

These quarterly adjustments seek to dismantle the subsidy to electricity rate from last November and until the year 2026.
The signature of “Electric Pact” was established by Decree No. 655-21 dated October 15, 2021 in an act headed by the President Luis Abinader at Palace National.
