This month the electricity rates will present a new rise, both for homes and businesses, reported the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining (Osinergmin). According to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN), the increase would be 0.61% for home users and 1.03% for commercial and industrial users.
It would be the fifth increase in electricity service prices so far in 2022.
For its part, the consulting firm Enerkory estimates that this month in Lima the electricity rates for industrial users will rise between 1.9% and 4.5%, depending on the activity of their economic activity.
Only so far this year it is estimated that the rates for the industrial sector accumulate rises of up to 6.9%.
Why will the price of electricity rates rise?
Osinergmin indicates that the increase in electricity rates is mainly due to the variation in prices in generation, main transmission and updating of secondary transmission tolls and complementary transmission systems assigned to demand, as well as factors related to distribution.
The price increase in electricity bills is also driven by the update of macroeconomic indicators such as the variation of the Wholesale Price Index, the exchange rate and increases in metal prices.
