Until April 2022, the energy losses of the Companies Electricity Distributors (DTS) stood at 31.3%, for a decrease of 1.3 percentage points compared to those registered as of December 2021, when they amounted to 32.6%.
In particular, the Distribution Company of Electricity from the east (Edeeast) continues to show more losses: they stood at 48.4% in the last month of 2021, although in April of this year they fell to 45.4%, for a decrease of 2.9 percentage points.
The Distributor Company Electricity from the south (Edesur) presents losses of 25.7% as of April 2022. In December 2021 they were around 26.1%. Instead, the Distribution Company of Electricity from North (Edenorte) presents 21.4%, for a decrease of 0.5 percentage between January and April 2022; in December 2021 losses reached 21.9%.
The losses in DTS They refer to the relationship between the purchase of energy from the distributors, the one they can sell and the one they can collect. Losses are technical and non-technical.
The data is contained in the “Performance Report of State Electric Companies, January-April 2022 period”. During that time, the DTS they purchased 5,114.6 GWh, with a variation of 128.3 GWh, which represents an increase of 2.6%.
Buy and sell
The document indicates that the average purchase price was 15.24 US cents per kWh, which increased 3.36 US cents per kWh, representing an increase of 28.3%.
Likewise, the average sale price was 16.08 US cents per kWh, which increased 2.32 US cents per kWh, which represents 16.8%.
The invoice for energy purchase in the period January-April 2022 was 779.3 million dollars. Compared to the same period of the previous year, it had an increase of 187.1 million dollars, which represents 31.6%; while, the billing for energy sales was 585.7 million dollars, with an increase of 126.9 million dollars, which represents 27.6%.
In addition, charges for energy have been 518.6 million dollars, which increased by 20.0%, equivalent to 86.4 million dollars.
Also, the collection rate (moving year) of the DTS was 93.1%, with a decrease of 3.0%. Instead, the energy recovery index was 64.3%, with an increase of 0.4%, and operating expenses were 110.7 million dollars, whose increase is 1.2%, equivalent to 1.3 million dollars.
The report, published on the portal of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, details that investments for 40.9 million dollars were made, which increased by 52.7%, equivalent to 14.1 million dollars.
In general terms, the report indicates that during January-April 2022, 6,244.3 GWh were injected into the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), with a variation of 398.8 GWh compared to the same period of the previous year, representing an increase of 6.8%.
The document also collects data from the Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies, the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation and Dominican Electric Transmission companies, and the Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant.
