Electricity bill becomes more expensive from today

The electricity bill becomes more expensive from this Tuesday (1st), with the activation of the red flag level 2, the highest tariff stage in the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) system. With the measure, the price for every 100 kilowatt-hours consumed goes from R$4.463 to R$7.877.Electricity bill becomes more expensive from today

The decision was announced last Friday (27) in a note from Aneel, as a result of the hydrological risk, with low reservoirs, and the increase in the price of energy in the market, impacted by the cost of what was produced and not contracted.

The tariff flag system is made up of the colors green, yellow and red, in levels 1 and 2. The green color level 1 means a tariff at no extra cost.

The level 1 red flag had been in force since September, after a period in which the level 1 green flag, the cheapest in the system, prevailed for several months of the year.

According to the agency, the tariff flag system is a way of making additional charges more transparent for electricity consumers connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN). Created in 2015, it indicates the costs of energy generation in Brazil and allows adaptations in consumption to reduce the value of the electricity bill.
