A failure in the 220 KV network between Sancti Spíritus and Nuevitas caused the total disconnection of the National Electric System in the central-eastern zone of Cuba.
The affected region includes the provinces between Ciego de Ávila and Guantánamo, according to the Unión Eléctrica (UNE).
