“This electoral campaign began marked by confusion after the effects of Hurricane Julia, since some collaborationist parties reported that they were notified that the campaign would be reduced to 13 days, starting on October 20, due to the effects of the hurricane, however , the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) never officially reported this provision”, indicated Urnas Abiertas.
According to the agency, this reduced campaign in which at least six political parties participate, serves to justify a millionaire reimbursement of more than 450 million córdobas (about 13 million dollars) that the political parties will claim at the end of their participation in a process. pointed out as not having “democratic conditions or guarantees”.

However, the Supreme Electoral Council said that it “reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening democracy and stability to guarantee a free, fair and transparent process.”
