Electoral reform will motivate 'jaloneos' inside and outside Morena, they estimate experts

‘Jaloneos’, resistance and consensus search

For experts consulted by Political expansionPresident Sheinbaum is in a position to approve her electoral reform and can do so by majority and even by consensus.

“There are two basic models of democracy: the majority and the consensual and, for now, it is looking towards the majority. A consensual model could cause better quality laws, but the model that is being raised is that of the majority with which it is available,” he says Javier RosilesProfessor at the University of the Ciénega of the State of Michoacán.

But resistances to the Presidential Electoral Project could come from the inside.

The weekend, the coordinator of the Morenistas in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, acknowledged that, based on the discussion of electoral reform and the application of other constitutional modifications, such as nepotism, there is a stage of “insurmountable internal dispute” in Morena.

“It will be a very important stage of insurmountable internal dispute, in which, by the force of Morena, for the majority representativeness, it will be the party that suffers more difficulties in keeping it to unity,” said Monreal.

“From now on, it is presented, in the early struggle to be candidates or candidates for governors or governors, or the re -election of federal deputies, or the election of municipal presidents, councilors, trustees and councilors. It will be a very important stage in which Morena needs cohesion, unity,” he said.

Monreal stressed that Morena should not fall into a narrative of internal disqualification or diatribe.

“It would be suicidal for that to go. It requires a lot of political maturity, a lot of discipline and organization to support the work of President Claudia Sheinbaum,” he said.

This Monday, Monreal said that, “the desirable,” is that the electoral reform comes out of consensus, so he stressed the importance of making forums not only with specialists and legislators, but also with political parties.

“For a reform to succeed, the most convenient, especially is of an electoral nature, it is correct and convenient that everyone is included and that it is by consensus. Of course there is, of course, that if it is not achieved, the Constitution indicates the constitutional mechanisms of approval, but the desirable thing is that we achieve consensus,” he said.

“I estimate that it should be a great democratic, inclusive discussion, that does not exclude anyone, that those who wish to do so, experts, political scientists, lawyers, law scholars and also representatives of the political parties that are in this discussion process participate.”

Armando Zacarías CastilloHead of the Department of Political Studies of the University Center of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Guadalajara, warns that the initiative will be approved, but agrees that differences and resistances between allied parties may occur.

“They will approve it because there is no structure that has enough weight in number of votes within the Congress of the Union to stop it, but there is a topic: we will see how political parties react with some proposals such as reducing the budget diets assigned for the operation of the party,” he says.

In the discussion of other reform initiatives presented by President Sheinbaum, including eliminating the electoral nepotistm and re -election, resistance and even disagreements were already presented. The consequence was to modify the original proposals, which did not happen the previous six -year period.
